- Hormones: Your estrogen and testosterone levels are directly linked to acne. The imbalance of these hormones makes your skin prone to acne conditions.
- Stress: Studies have shown that stress aggravates acne because when you’re stressed, the hormones increase sebum production in your skin which results in acne problem.
- Diet: Including processed foods, bad carbs, sugary foods, dairy products, and etc make your condition worse.
Here are the ways which help you prevent pimple or acne. Scroll down!
1. Wash your face properly
To help prevent pimples or any skin problems, you must remove excess oil, sweat, and dirt accumulated on your skin. Washing your face twice a day can help you with a clean and clear face. That being said, don’t over-wash your face because it may make acne worse.
Also, don’t wash your face with harsh cleansers that make your skin dry or strip away natural oils. Use, a mild and gentle cleanser that is free from parabens and chemicals.
To wash your face,
- Wet your face with warm water
- Apply a mild cleanser to your face in a circular motion using your fingers
- Rinse thoroughly and pat dry
2. Moisturize your Skin
Moisturizing the skin keeps it soft, supple, and hydrated. However, these many moisturizers on the market contain synthetic fragrance or other harmful ingredients that may irritate your skin and cause pimples. To help prevent pimples, use fragrance-free, noncomedogenic moisturizers after you wash your face. One such best gentle moisturizer for any skin type is Cerave Moisturizing cream.
3. Stay Hydrated
If you’re dehydrated, your body signals your skin’s oil glands to produce more oil. Dehydration is also a primary cause of inflammation, redness, and dull skin. To keep your skin and body well hydrated, drink at least 8-ounce glasses of water each day.
4. Don’t touch your face
On daily basis, your hands encounter bacteria and dust constantly the whole day. In such a case, if you touch your face, these impurities get transferred to your skin. Therefore, try to avoid touching your face often or always keep your hands clean by washing and sanitizing it continuously throughout the day.
5. Limit Sun exposure
Sun’s UV rays are not good for your skin, they can cause major skin problems in the long run. Moreover, frequent exposure to the sun dehydrates your skin, which causes it to produce more oil and thereby clogs the pores. So, avoid sun exposure as far as possible and it’s vital to wear sunscreen to help prevent skin cancer. Choose a physical or mineral sunscreen that is oil-free and non-comedogenic.
6. Avoid these Foods
According to a few studies, eating high glycemic foods, junk, trans fats, bad carbs, processed foods, and etc has been linked to acne problems. Such foods like chips, baked goods, white flour, sugary soft drinks, spike blood sugar levels, and are often less nutritious than low glycemic and other foods.
A study also found that eating dairy foods can trigger pimples due to the imbalance of hormones.
Include more nutrient-dense foods into your diet like vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin D, greens, colored veggies, and fruits, etc.
