The practice of using Sunni Pindi for bathing has been an age-old tradition across the southern part of India. The traditional bath powder comes with gazillion benefits. It’s all-natural and can be easily prepared at home with chemical-free, harmless ingredients. When compared to skin cleansers and exfoliating products that contain chemical ingredients, the aromatic herbal powder will stand out.

The herbal bath powder is made of skin-friendly herbs amongst which gram flour is the main ingredient. Along with gram flour, chickpea flour, rice flour, turmeric, Multani mitti, fenugreek leaves, neem leaves, Indian gooseberries, basil leaves, almonds, and rose petals are added. These ingredients make your skin look healthier and also adds a glow.
Required Ingredients to make the herbal bath powder
- Green grams – 100 gms
- Chickpeas (Besan) – 100 gms
- Multani Mitti – 2 tbsp
- Rice flour – 1 tbsp
- Turmeric – 1 tsp
- Amla powder (Indian Gooseberry) – 1 tbsp
- Fenugreek (Methi seeds) powder – 1 tbsp
- Orange or Lemon peel powder – 2 tbsp
- Neem leaves powder – 2 or 3 tbsp
- Rose petals powder – 2 tbsp
- Almonds powder – 1 tbsp
- Suganda Kachuralu – 1 tbsp
How to prepare and use it?
- You can buy all the above-mentioned powders or simply make them at home. For making all the powders, you need to sun dry them for 1 or 3 days and then blend them into a fine powder
- Take all the powdered ingredients and mix together until well combined
- Store the mixture in a jar container to use daily
- While bathing, take some powder, mix it with two tablespoons of milk or water
- Make a smooth paste and apply it generously all over your face
- Massage your face for 2 minutes and then start scrubbing your hands, legs, and entire body with the herbal powder
2. Saffron Face Pack for Skin Brightening
Saffron is been used for many years and well known for its healing properties. It’s a good source of iron, calcium, zinc, copper, niacin, vitamin C. Saffron can improve dull skin texture and lighten the skin in no time. In addition, it helps to remove dark spots, dark circles, or fine lines. Earlier, people used to add a few saffron strands to a glass of warm milk and drink it in the morning. Especially pregnant women used to follow the ritual as the born baby would be white in color. They believe that saffron milk can whiten the skin and increase blood circulation bringing a perfect glow to the skin.
How to use a Saffron face pack?
- Take three to four strands of saffron and soak them in two teaspoons of water overnight
- The next day, you’ll observe the color of the water turns golden yellowish
- Now, add a teaspoon of milk and a few drops of coconut oil to the saffron-infused water
- Apply the mixture generously all over your face and neck area and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes
- Wash it off with cold water and pat dry your face
- Repeat this treatment at least two times a week for best results.
